Campus Wide Announcements:

Attention Seniors! A reminder that Jostens representatives will be at school during lunch on Monday, March 27th to deliver your graduation products and caps and gowns. Your balance must be paid in full. No checks can be accepted on the day of delivery, cash or money order only. (3.28)

Zeeland’s Got Talent 2017: Thank you to everyone who auditioned for “Zeeland’s Got Talent.” For the first time in several years we had more quality auditions than we have spots for in this hour-and-a-half show. If you did not make it this time, please continue to try again next year.

The show is Thursday, April 13 at 7:30 PM. Performers should be prepared to rehearse between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM on the day of the show. Please make sure you are checking the email you provided for rehearsal and show information.

Tickets will be on sale as soon as we return from spring break. Purchase in advance M-W for $5 each in the ZEHS main office or at the door the night of the show for $6 students and $7 adults. Seating is main floor general admission. (3.31)

TUESDAY, APRIL 11 we will begin state required standardized testing.  All 9th-11th grade students will be involved in testing, and 12th graders will have a senior meeting.  Please download the attached "Spring 2017 Testing Info Letter" below to review the schedule, understand expectations, and know what to bring to the test(s).  Room rosters will be posted in the Student Services Office windows on Monday, April 10. Tuesday, March 28 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. and again from 6-8 p.m., the Western Michigan National College Fair will be held at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.  More than 100 college representatives from around the country will be on hand to chat with students and provide information about their schools.  Additionally, students and parents can attend a variety of workshops concerning the college planning process.  The event is completely FREE.  To make things easier the day of the event, you can pre-register online.  More information and instructions for pre-registration are available at https://www.nacacfairs.org/attend/national-college-fairs/western-michigan-college-fair/ (3/28)

Students Interested in Summer Dance: The high school dance program is sponsoring a summer guest teacher series for students who would like to dance this summer. Classes will be offered from June 14 - July 31 on weekdays. This program was previously hosted by Zeeland Recreation but will now run through the high school program and includes guest teachers from area studios and Zeeland Alumni teachers who are studying dance in college. An open level or beginning level class is offered weekdays at 10 AM and an advanced level class is offered at 11:30 AM. See the attachments for more information. You may drop off or mail your enrollment form and payment to: Zeeland Dance at 3333 96th Avenue (Zeeland East HS). You do not need to be a part of the high school dance program to participate. Seniors: Please continue to check the Counseling Office's scholarship database at counseling.zps.org.  There are many local scholarships available for students to apply for.  Upcoming deadlines include: George and Lucile Heeringa Community Scholarship - Mar. 24, LAUP Scholarship - Mar. 27, Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital Service League Scholarship - Mar. 31, Zeeland Athletic Boosters Scholarship - Apr. 1 (4/1)

Performing Arts Scholarship Applications are now available on the Performing Arts webpage found HERE or from your performing arts teacher.  Seniors should apply for the Norma Sneller Performing Arts Scholarship. Continuing students should apply for Summer Scholarships which are awarded to performing arts students who plan to study the arts over the summer with private lessons or at camp. Please ask your performing arts teacher if you have any questions. Application deadlines are in April. Please be sure to read all material carefully. (4.21)

East & West Students who are not currently enrolled in a dance class but who are interested in auditioning for placement in Dance II, III, IV, or Dance Ensemble should pick up audition information in the dance studio at East. Auditions will be on Thursday, April 27 at 3 PM in the ZEHS dance studio. To prepare for auditions you should attend workshops from 3 - 4 PM on April 18, 20, and 25. If you are unable to attend all workshops see Mrs. Clyde for our Google Classroom Audition Page Code where videos will be available of the various audition combinations. Attention Seniors: Ms. Johnson, the College Adviser is now taking names to be put into the drawing for a $500 book scholarship if you can show proof of a college application submitted, FAFSA completion and an application to at least one scholarship completed. You have up until March 30th to be entered into the drawing. Please take a moment to fill out the FAFSA Survey that was sent to you in an email link from Ms. Johnson. This will help get a better idea of who has done the FAFSA and who still needs help to complete it. Remember, the FAFSA deadline is March 1st! If you have any questions contact Ms. Johnson at ljohnso2@zps.org or stop by her office at East or West (3/30).

Students:   Homework help is now up and running.  Any student from either school is welcome to stop by for a quiet place to study or to get help on homework if needed. No need to sign up in advance.

Any boys interested in playing tennis next fall, please try to attend one of the two options for an informational meeting next week Monday @ 2:50 or Tuesday @ 2:50 in Coach Carlson's room, D-125.  The meeting will not last more than 15 minutes.

The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area is now accepting applications from current 9th & 10th Graders to serve on the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). YAC members meet once a month during the school year for grant making, site visits to local organizations, and learning about community needs and philanthropy. PROM - Zeeland West High School Juniors and Seniors - You are invited to attend the 2017 Junior/Senior Prom "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" on Saturday, April 22 from 8PM to 11PM at The Bissell Tree House located at John Ball Zoo. You will enter into a “sweeping picturesque view of downtown Grand Rapids as it sparkles with elegance.” When you arrive you will be escorted to The Bissell by Funicular or Trolley.  The magical evening will include desserts, refreshments and dancing! Single tickets are $40.  There is a limited amount of tickets available and maximum capacity for this magical evening and venue.  Tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis and will not exceed 250 guests.  Tickets will be on sale March 24 -30 at Zeeland West during both lunches. Tickets will not be sold in between classes. All prom attendees must be juniors or seniors in high school or high school graduates (under 21) and guests of ZWHS students. Guest passes available in the office.  Tickets will not be sold after spring break.

Save your Family Fare and D&W receipts

The Senior All Night Party is raising funds with Family Fare’s new Direct Your Dollars program. Simply save your entire receipt(s) starting now and turn them into the box in the West office anytime between now and Spring  Break. We are hoping to collect $150,000 in receipts to earn $1000. Every dollar counts so start saving, even the smallest amount. (3/30)

Seniors and Parents of Seniors: Purchase your ticket now to attend the all-night party.   Registration form and waiver (form links can be found at the bottom of the announcements) must be completed and submitted with payment to be able to attend the event.  Students that are registered will be eligible to participate in drawings on Senior Fridays to win a gift card.
