Zeeland wrapped up a tremendous season this weekend. While the boys had been consistently ranked 6th throughout the regular season, they came poised to make a splash, finishing 3rd at the MHSAA Division 1 State Championship. There were several highlights thr
oughout the meet, lead by Micah DeJonge's state championship and school record in the 500 free. Other top performances include DeJonge's 200 free (3rd, school record), Mac Robertson's 500 free (school record) and the 400 free relay (2nd).

Zeeland had several All State performances:
Micah DeJonge - 200 free, 500 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay
Mac Robertson - 500 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay
Jared Cook - 200 free relay
Noah Macomber - 1 meter
Josh Zylstra - 1 meter
Gabe Trevino - 50 free, 100 free, 400 free relay
Austin Mills - 100 back, 400 free relay
Philip DeJonge - 200 free relay

While our swimmers and divers made a great impact on the state, they also made great strides on the national level. Micah DeJonge achieved automatic All American status in the 500 free, and a strong consideration cut in the 200 free. Gabe Trevino achieved consideration status in the 50 free, and the 400 free relay achieved an automatic cut. Consideration cuts will be determined at the end of spring swim seasons across the country.

Great job, boys!

At last nights Division 1 Region 3 State Diving Qualification meet, Noah Macomber and Josh Zylstra dove their way to the State Meet by placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Both boys dove well and look to continue their successful season next weekend at the Holland Aquatic Center at the Division 1 State Meet. Good luck to all Zeeland swimmers and divers next weekend.

While every swim of the weekend was truly impressive, a handful of swims will go down in history. Gabe Trevino established conference records in the 50 and 100 free. Micah DeJonge added his own conference and school record in the 500 freestyle. Noah Macomber set a new conference record on the boards, beating the 2015 record set by teammate Josh Zylstra, who also finished higher than his 2015 mark. DeJonge and Trevino were joined by Austin Mills and Mac Robertson to lower the conference record in the 400 free relay to cap off the meet.

The Zeeland boys put together a tremendous pre-championship season tune up as they took on the top teams in the state at the annual MISCA invitational held at Eastern Michigan University. Headlining the day for Zeeland was Micah DeJonge, who broke the meet record in the 500 freestyle; a record that had stood for 16 years. Other standout performances included DeJonge's 200 free, Austin Mills (200 IM/100 back), Travis Engelsman (50 breast), Connor Robertson (200 IM), Mac Robertson (200 free/500 free) and Jonathan Kollen (500 free).

The tune-ups are over, and now the team looks toward defending its crown atop the OK Green, as the conference
championship gets underway on Friday, February 26.
