Boys Swimming and Diving

Tuesday, March 3, 2015
It was another night of fast swimming for the Zeeland boys, as they participated in the exhibition Second Shave Meet.

While most of the boys are looking ahead to next weekend, that didn't stop a few great performances from both tapered and unrested alike. Highlights include Trevor Gras in the 100 back, Connor Robertson in the 200 IM & 100 breast, and Jared Leestma in the 200 IM & 100 back. Austin Mills added two new state cuts to his 2 already, qualifying in both the 50 & 100 free. Gabe Trevino also qualified in the 500 free.

With swimming out of the way, that leaves it up to divers, as they continue their journey to state on Thursday at home for Regionals.

Friday & Saturday, February 27-28, 2015
Zeeland capped off their conference schedule with a 1st place finish at the OK-Green Championships. Overall, the boys have several accomplishments to celebrate for this weekend. Individual performances were highlighted by 35/38 best times from tapered swimmers, and 11 of the 23 all-conference honors went to Zeeland swimmers and divers. Individual stand outs include dual-event winners Micah DeJonge and Gabe Trevino, a 1-2 finish in diving by Josh Zylstra and Noah Macomber, new state cuts from Philip DeJonge, Austin Mills and Nick Berens, and incredible senior year finishes by Nick Rowland and Hunter Zwiers.

The next stop for the boys is the Second Shave meet at the Holland Aquatic Center. This will be the last chance for individual qualifiers to join the state team. The final pre-state stop is diving regionals, where our divers will look to join our 10 swimmers who qualified for the state meet. Regional Diving is Thursday at the Natatorium.

Tuesday, February 17, 2015
The boys clinched at least a share of the OK-Green championship with their win over Holland Christian. The seniors were honored as Zeeland capped off its dual meet season with a record of 7-1.

Highlights of the night include Gabe Trevino's school record setting performance in the 100 fly, Judd VanderPlaats winning the 200 IM, Alex Brooks in the 100 free and Hunter Zwiers in the 500 free.

Next up are the OK-Green Conference Championships, which will be held next week Friday and Saturday at Hamilton.
