"We didn't shoot the ball very well in the first half. We were taking good shots, but just couldn't put the ball on the cage. The second half we came out on fire, sparked by some good outside shooting from Rylie Toth, Brooke Elenbaas and Madi Duquette." -Coach Dave Vruggink

The Zeeland Women's Water Polo team traveled to Jenison to participate in the 2 in 1 Tournament and took second place out of 8 teams. The team started the weekend by defeating Grand Haven 11-5 and then followed that victory up with wins over East Kentwood (6-3) and Grandville (5-3). The win streak came to an end in the Championship game with a loss to Illinois' Naperville Central (ranked #3 in Illinois) by a score of 13-1.
Sarah Houtman and Jenna Schrotenboer led the team with 7 goals each. Rylie Toth was the team leader in both assists (7) and steals (15) and Emma Nellis made 29 saves in goal.
"Our movement and communication really improved over the weekend. We had 6 different goal scorers, but more importantly, we were looking to score, not just throw the ball towards the net. We really improved a lot over the weekend and I am hoping that we carry it over to our games this coming week." Coach Dave Vruggink
