Principal's Report:  Mrs. Garnett spoke about district wide testing, data days and about the upcoming assembly for students.

Upcoming Events:  African American Heritage Night  on  2/24/17, 4:30-7:30PM  Items discussed were menu, volunteers needed, program, flyers, raffles and decorations.
Other upcoming events included the Movie Night on 1/13/17, Donuts with Dad on 2/10/17 & Scholastic Book Fair 2/27-3/2, 2017

Holiday Store in December was a success!  Thanks to all who helped make it possible!

Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14th @ 6:00PM

Principal's Report  
  • We are wrapping up PARCC testing for 3rd-6th grade
  • Kindergarten round up will take place on May 17th
  • Discussed end of year activities/field trips that are coming up
  • Shared that 5th grade will take the state Science Assessment on the 23rd
Financial Report
  • We met our goal of earning $1000.00 from the Cinco de Mayo dinner
  • We made $68 from the spirit store
  • Sold $108 of inventory during our final book fair of the year
Upcoming Events
  • Clean up Day is Saturday, May 14th.  We will partner with Christian Faith Fellowship Church to clean up and make improvements outside of the school.  The motion was made by Sunshine Brown and seconded by Mrs. Garnett to spend up to $100 to build a bench outside of the school.  
  • Field Day & PBIS lunch event on Tuesday, May 31st  -  Volunteers needed
  • Fun Fair, Saturday, May 21st  
Request for Funds
  • Need to order more water bottles for spirit store
  • Teacher Appreciation -  June 2nd
Officer Elections-  Motion was made and vote was taken for the following people to serve the PTO during the 2016-17 school year.

Fun Fair, Saturday, May 21st
  • All Elmwood students will receive a free wristband to attend the fun fair.  Non-Elmwood students will pay $5
  • Raffle tickets will be sold for 1 for $1, 6 for $5 and 15 for $10
  • Contacting various high school clubs (ROTC, NHS, etc.) to get student volunteers for the fun fair
  • Razzle Dazzles will perform at 10:15AM
  • We will have face painting at the fun fair

Welcome and Pledges

Principal's report:  Winter benchmark testing is completed. 

Financial report:  Current balance $2275.65  Movie Night was a success.  We made $164.52  Motion was made to purchase a new pencil dispenser from a different company from Amazon

Engaging in Community:  Next movie night will be March 11th.  The movie will be "Goosebumps."  Donuts with Dads will be Friday, February 26th.  Notes asking for donations will be sent home with students.  PTO will bring in desserts for the teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences on the Feb. 11th.  Scholastic Book Fair is the week of Feb. 8-12th.  Discussion was held regarding the Spring Fun Fair.  It will be held on Saturday, May 21st.  We will go with the same company.  The plan is to hold a Cinco de Mayo fundraiser to help with costs of wristbands for the fun fair.  More discussion to be held and next month's meeting.

Hot Topics:  Tonight's discussion topic was on ways to get more parents involved in school and to get more volunteers for the various events.

Welcome and pledges

Special Presentation:   Elmwood Robotics Team  The team will compete this Saturday on Dec. 12, 2015 at Zion Central Middles School.  The team requested assistance from the PTO to purchase team t-shirts.  Motion made to pay $77.50 for the team t-shirts.  Approved

Principal Garnett's Report:  There is a new initiative beginning in January.  Snacks at school for students need to be healthy ones.
                                          We had at least 80% of the parents show up for November Parent-Teacher Conferences. 

Financial Report:  Merchandise was purchased for our Spirit Store.($329.25) 
                            A pencil vending machine was also purchased this past month.($321.95) 
                            Current balance is $443.33

Engaging in Community:  Spirit Store will be set up for the night of the Winter Holiday Concert. 
                                        We will have a bake sale before and after the Holiday Concert on Tuesday, December 15th. 
                                        Posada Celebration is on Friday, Dec. 11th.  This is a fundraiser for the 6th grade Chicago trip.
                                        Holiday Store will be open all week December 14-18th in the school library.

Next meeting: Tuesday, January 12th.  Mrs. Garnett will be presenting.
