Summer Camp

Yu Ying Summer Camp provides an excellent opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture through engaging activities in our immersion environment! Our well rounded-program incorporates outdoor activities, field trips, arts and crafts, academic enrichment and fun activities. Using task-based language teaching method, campers will learn and practice Mandarin Chinese through meaningful activities designed to expand their language skills. Each week's theme is integrated into our daily lesson plan. In addition to Mandarin, we include an option for Accelerated Math and Reading to enhance academic performance. Students are grouped based on their proficiency of Mandarin, from beginner level with no prior knowledge, to advanced native speaker level.

Session Themes and Schedule

Wonders of China (Session 1: June 15-26)

Explore the highlights of China! Embark on a journey through China’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty. Discover amazing achievements of the ancient past, including the construction of the Great Wall to the mysteries of the Forbidden City. Wander through Beijing’s imperial landmarks, examine ancient treasures in Xi’an, and float down the Yangtze River among the dramatic limestone karst! Along the way, campers will enjoy a view of the gleaming skyscrapers of Shanghai, admire cuddly pandas in Chengdu, before rounding off their travels in the majestic landscapes of rural Yunnan. Campers will receive a colorful overview of the Middle Kingdom, and learn about the country’s unique cultural fabric, diversity, and splendid destinations. Activities include songs, games, Chinese calligraphy, dramatic play, theme parties, and music.

Little Chef’s Kitchen (Session 2: June 29- July 10)

Turn your child into a master chef! Our little chefs will unleash their creativity and cooking skills, and have fun learning about food with fellow campers. They could be the next Rachael Ray or Bobby Flay! Our campers will have fun preparing delicious American and Chinese cuisine, along with food from other parts of the world. Activities include creating recipes, games, food tours, team cook-offs, and exciting master chef competitions.

Motion and Potions! (Session 3: July 13-24)

Behind every discovery is a curious mind! Our Little Inventors will learn to build a variety of interesting projects. We connect science and technology with engaging, hands-on activities designed to stimulate their curiosity. Get things in motion by making motorized dancers, gymnasts, rovers, and mix up potions to experiment with cool chemical reactions. Prepare for a mind-blowing experience in our LEGO® Bricks workshop! Show your dazzling creativity and innovation by designing a favorite animated character, race cars, miniature cities, and more! Learn about great inventors and inventions, and come up with one of your own!

Magic Mind, Magic Hands! (Session 4: July 27-August 07)

Prepare for hands-on fun! Our campers will use their imagination and hands to create their own masterpiece! Our arts instructor will lead campers to create a variety of fascinating arts & crafts using different materials. Spark their creativity and imagination with hands-on activities including crafts, paper mache, jewelry making, animation,woodworking, painting, drawing, and much more.

It’s A Jungle Out There! (Session 5: August 10-14*)

Explore the wonders of the rain forests! Campers will journey into the vast untamed jungle of the Amazon rain forest. Come swim with the majestic pink river dolphin, observe colorful macaws soaring above the tree tops, and search for the mysterious jaguar roaming beneath the forest canopy. Have fun learning about animal characteristics including their natural habitats, behavior, and features, through hands-on themed activities. Kids will encounter animals up close with a funny and mind-boggling show! Field trips include local visits to see their favorite animals.

Field Trips

Students engage in cultural and recreational excursions around the Bay Area including visits to places such as Coyote Hills, Washington Park, local restaurants, Crab Cove, and more. Beach day and bowling day every week!

Entering Kindergarten or Kindergarten (no prior Chinese knowledge needed)*

We pay special attention to our youngest campers cognitive, emotional, and social development while they explore the Mandarin Chinese language. Songs, games, role-play, and other creative approaches are cultivated to spark interest in Chinese and ensure campers feel comfortable during their stay at summer camp.

Grades 1-8 (no prior Chinese knowledge needed)*

Summer Camp is a great opportunity for our campers to learn Mandarin Chinese language skills and Chinese culture, expand their global perspective, enhance academic knowledge and interact with peers in a diverse setting.

Tuition and Fees

Full Day: $630/session (2 weeks) 8am-6pm

Half Day: $450/session (2 weeks) 8am-12pm or 2pm-6pm

Materials fee: $30 (2 weeks)

Early drop in fee: 7:30am, $30/2 weeks

Discount

Multi-session Discount: 5% off tuition fee if enroll at least 4 sessions

Sibling Discount: 20% off tuition fee for the 2nd child; 30% off tuition fee for the 3rd child and thereafter.

*The summer camp will be held for 9 weeks starting from June 17 and ends August 16.
