The purpose of the tutoring program is to provide additional after school support in the core curriculum skill areas of math, reading and grammar.  Free one-on-one and small group tutoring is provided to 1st - 5th grade students after school at most school sites.    Tutors assist students with homework and skill building in math, reading, and language arts.  

1st - 3rd grades  3:00 - 4:15 two days per week (Ranchwood students are tutored during the school day, no enrollment form is necessary)
IES & LES  3:15 - 4:30 two days per week  (Students at IES also receive help during the school day)

Students must meet the following requirements for the initial enrollment in tutoring:
  • Enrollment in Title VI
  • Letter grade of C or below in the one or more of the following:  math, reading, spelling, and/or language for the current or past quarter.  (1 or 2 for 1st - 3rd grade)
  • Level 1 - 3 ISIP reading or math scores
  • Referral from teacher or counselor

Cultural activities are integrated into tutoring throughout the year.  In November students learned about the Wampanoag Indians and made wigwams.
