Amie Kabia
Agency: HUD

Amie has been an active member of Young Government Leaders since 2013. She has served as an Event Program Coordinator and the Vice President of the New York City Chapter of YGL. Amie has had a passion for public service from a very young age. While in high school she regularly volunteered at soup kitchens, retirement homes, and with little funds arranged care packages for disadvantaged youth in Sierra Leone, West Africa. After graduating from college, Amie enrolled in the Peace Corps Master’s International Program where she was able to pair her graduate studies with her Peace Corps Service. She served as a Community Health Advisor in rural Madagascar for 2 and a half years before returning to the U.S. where she completed her master’s in public administration (concentrating in International Public Service and Development). Amie has worked with AmeriCorps, the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, Angel Africa, and returned to work with the Peace Corps in New York City. 

 She currently works with the civil rights arm of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development where she confronts housing discrimination. Amie enjoys staying abreast of current events and is fascinated with African culture; she enjoys community service, regularly volunteers with various organizations, participates in several awareness walks, and has recently gained great appreciation for Bikram Yoga.

Patrick Mullen
Agency: GSA

Patrick began working with the General Services Administration in 2015, following his Peace Corps Volunteer service as a Secondary School English teacher in Malawi. Part of his current job, as a Contract Specialist with GSA, is to procure construction, maintenance, and administrative services for agencies in our Manhattan federal buildings. He is currently the Vice President of YGL NYC. In his free time, Patrick enjoys skateboarding, playing the piano, and going on adventures with his girlfriend.

Adam Hunter
Agency: GSA


Adam began working with the General Services Administration in 2015, following his Peace Corps Volunteer service as a Agroforestry Volunteer in Senegal. Part of his current job, as a Project Manager with GSA, is to manage the design and construction for agencies in NY State federal buildings. He is currently the Treasurer of YGL NYC. In his free time, Adam enjoys skiing, traveling, and exploring Manhattan.

Nina Mickens
Agency: Civilian Complaint Review Board

I am a native New Yorker born and raised in Brooklyn, where I have resided my entire life. I have worked at a New York City government agency, the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB), for the past 10 years where I have built the foundation for my professional career. Starting my tenure as an investigator and rapidly moving up the chains to management. I was tasked with spearheading the agency Intake unit, handpicked to sit on the Investigations Subcommittee and launched a quality assurance initiative. My current role is the Director of Case Management where I am responsible for a staff of eight that handles the back end of the investigation process. Prior to working at the CCRB and just before graduating from Baruch College, I interned at Fortune Magazine in their public relations department and at a membership organization for British real estate professionals. I have an Associate Degree from Berkeley College in Fashion Marketing so my prior experience also was in fashion runway show production, Lingerie and outerwear manufacturing and shipping. While in High School, I worked in the New York Public Library and also at the Department of Youth and Community Development as a crisis intervention counselor. 

 Currently, I am enrolled in graduate school at John Jay College of Criminal Justice pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration. I love fact finding missions and am truly inquisitive by nature. I love giving back and have worked with organizations such as Dress for Success, New York Cares, Meat Loaf Kitchen and The American Cancer Society.

Chief Information Officer

Brian Webster
Agency: DoD

Brian has worked as a Systems Engineer for the Department of the Navy since 2008. In his current position with Naval Air Systems Command he is responsible for coordinating engineering analyses to ensure naval aircraft can safely operate on ships. He is also Chairman of a NATO working group that ensures countries are using standardized procedures when operating their aircraft on allied ships. In his spare time he enjoys biking, playing tennis, reading, and spending time with his daughter.
