What's Happening?

YGL Baltimore will issue quarterly newsletters to its members via email. You can also find the quarterly newsletter here on the What's Happening? page. In the past, we have issued newsletters on a monthly basis, however due to a lack of resources we believe that it is best to move to quarterly newsletters. If you have a special interest in developing a newsletter or would simply like to share a story that you feel would be a great fit for what's happening, feel free to reach out to us at baltimore@younggov.org.

YGL Baltimore is committed to providing you with access to events and resources that support the development of your professional and leadership skills. Therefore, we periodically administer membership surveys to gather information about your needs and interests. Be on the lookout for links to upcoming surveys, right here on our What's Happening page. Members will receive surveys via email.

Your input will help ensure that YGL Baltimore events and resources meet the needs of our members. We are continuously exploring new and innovative options for YGL Baltimore events and programs, and your input is critical as we move forward with planning. Your survey responses are anonymous, confidential, and will be used only for this purpose.

Thanks in advance for contributing to YGL Baltimore’s mission. As always, we appreciate your input!

As the holiday season approaches, let's take some time to give back to those less fortunate.

Join Young Government Leaders and the Department of Energy's Young Professional Group for two volunteer projects with Martha's Table and Martha's Outfitters.

DATES:

  • Saturday, December 17, 2016 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

  • Monday, January 16, 2016 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

We will volunteer at Martha's Table and Martha's Outfitters on both of the above dates. Volunteers will meet at Martha's Table and then split into two groups - one group will assist with packing and sorting food at Martha's Table and the other group will help to sort donations and hang merchandise in the Martha's Outfitters thrift store.

Are you looking for a better way to address diversity issues in your agency/organization? Do you want to help your workplace become more inclusive?  We know today's workplaces and communities are faced with a renewed focus on addressing social and cultural inequalities. In response, the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights and the University of Baltimore's Schaefer Center for Public Policy are rolling out a new program in 2017 to assist organizations in taking a proactive approach to addressing diversity and inclusion.

Participants in the Maryland Equity & Inclusion Leadership Program will learn diversity and inclusion best practices, enhance their personal leadership and management skills, and become part of a diverse alumni network of program graduates.  Leaders from all sectors - public, private and non-profit - are encouraged to apply.

The 9-month program run from March - November 2017 and the cost is just $700 for the whole program (meals and materials included). Organizations are welcome to sponsor an employee to attend.

Applications are being accepted through December 12th, 216!
