The 5 Major Components of Physical Fitness

Physical Fitness:

The ability to function effectively throughout your school day, perform your usual other activities, and still have enough energy left over to handle any extra stresses or emergencies which may arise.

Cardiorespiratory Endurance:

The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the muscles during long periods of physical activity.

Muscular Endurance:

The ability of the muscles to repeat a movement many times or hold a position without stopping to rest.

Muscular Strength:

The ability of the muscle or muscles to push or pull with its total force.

Flexibility:

The ability to move the joints or any group of joints through an entire, normal range of motion.

Body Composition:

The percentage of body fat a person has in comparison to his or her total body mass.
