30 pounds of fingerling potatoes were harvested by the YHS FOODD Club

Students at Brookside Elementary school are busy planting garlic that will be harvested over the summer.

Crompond's 2nd Annual Farm to Youth Fest was an amazing success!

Students in the CES Summer Garden club meet every week to insure garden is watered, weeded, and ready for the upcoming school year!

This Summer, the FOODD Club was blessed with their very own Garden Fairies, who nurtured the gardens during summer school.  Hats off to Ms.Haggerty and her students who did a great job!

A big shout out and thank you to all our participants from the screening of The Greenhorns and farm-to-table tasting held on April 19, 2016 at the YHS.  Girl Scout Troops 2939 and 2628 shared their Sow What Journey, and students from Mrs. Flors 5th grade class presented their recent research on bees. Georgia Christensen, Christine Oteiza, and Isabella Tolosi interviewed farmer Mimi Edelman of I&Me Farms and made a video of their interview, The Buzz from the Hivewhich was viewed at the screening.  All enjoyed tastings from Peter Pratt's Inn, Healthy Culinary Creationsthe Organic Cooking Kitchen, and Trailside Cafe!

Students at YHS FOODD Club have been cooking up a storm!   Potatoes harvested from their garden have been used to make oven-baked potato chips, oven-baked French Fries and Potato Latke's!


The Board of Education was treated to Brookside's Harvest Soup with the help of Chef/Parent Chrissy DePole - Ingredients were grown and harvested by students from Brookside's Cultivation Station.

KUDOS to the YHS FOODD Club and their new school garden!  A warm thank you to Diego and staff for building the beds, Yorktown Garden Supply for their generosity with the garden soil, and

May 31 is the 2nd Annual Sustainable Food & Farm Expo at the Greenwich Audubon!

Mark your calendar - Saturday, May 16, 10am - 1pm -  for Starting a Garden workshop by Douglas DeCandia, Farmer for Food Bank of Westchester.

This will be a hands-on workshop in the basics of starting a garden, while maintaining the integrity of the soil ecosystem and the plants potential to produce. We will discuss practices to promote biological health and diversity as well as the principles of regenerative agriculture/gardening. This workshop, and the discussions we have, will all fit within the greater context of food security and environmental stewardship.

When: Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Where: Yorktown Grange, 99 Moseman Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598

Cost: Free

Attire: Clothes for gardening and getting dirty
