Managing References

The soft approach

Accurate referencing is vital in academic work. When you find some useful material, how do you keep track of references? Write them in a notebook? Copy them into a Google doc?

And how do you ensure your reference list matches your citations in your written work?

Reference management applications

One option is to make use of a reference management application. There are several of these, but EndNote is available at the University in two versions: Desktop and Online.

This site:

  • describes what these applications can do
  • summarises the processes used to acquire references
  • provides links to further learning and support
