I
am an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Economics and Related Studies at the
University of York. In my full-time job, I am head of Economic and Monetary
Analysis (Chief Economist) at the National Bank of Slovakia.
I was a Lecturer in Economics at York between 2014 and 2019. Before coming to York, I was a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford between 2009 and 2014. I finished my PhD in economics at the University of StAndrews in 2007. I am also a graduate of Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia (2002) and University of York (2003) Between 2012 and 2015, I served a three-year term as one of the founding members of Slovakia's Council for Budget Responsibility - an independent fiscal watchdog. In this role, I started coordinating the activities of the Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions, a platform for cooperation among EU fiscal watchdogs. In the past, I also worked in both the private and public sectors in Slovakia. Notably, I served as an adviser to Slovak finance ministers between 2007 and 2012. Between 2008 and 2010, I was a member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union and the Eurogroup Working Group on behalf of Slovakia. I also participated in the working group preparing the reform of economic governance in Europe for the task force led by the President of the European Council in 2010. |
