Rationale

In March 2013 the generals Secretaries of the Irish YMCAs were asked to Identify what was their biggest priority in developing the movement. They agreed developing YMCA youth work as a high quality, distinctive, coherent and effective tool for the local YMCA. This course is a response to that request. It has been developed by a team from local and national YMCAs, managers, trainers and practitioners. It has identified 6 key learning areas and agreed a learning methodology, based on residential sharing, practitioner participation and support services.

Purpose
  • Build a common vision & understanding of YMCA youth work and best practice
  • Build a network (team) of YMCA practitioners which is capable of support, information and resource functions
  • To build synergy between YMCAs, through  ideas & shared learning & practice
