Expectations

Students are required to complete two Career Exploration Programs, one during 10th grade and a second in 11th grade. Completion of two CEP’s is a graduation requirement for Yarmouth High School.

For successful completion of each Career Exploration Program students will:

  • Demonstrate job seeking skills by writing a resume and cover letter, interviewing a job shadow supervisor, making contacts with people in the workplace, meeting deadlines, and writing a thank you note.

  • Participate in a job shadow experience that consists of three consecutive days of at least five hours a day. No regular classes will be held for Grades 10 and 11 students during the designated CEP dates.

  • Practice interview skills by researching duties, responsibilities, education, and training required for a possible career.

  • Evaluate the job shadow experience in terms of interests and considering future career choices.

  • Summarize and share the job shadow experience in an oral presentation to advisor group peers and parents in the evening. This is done for both tenth and eleventh graders.

Each student’s advisor will provide information and support to assist students in meeting all of the requirements for the CEP.
