Superintendent's Letter
July 9, 2014

Dear Friend of the Yarmouth School Department,
I am pleased to welcome you to our district website. As a newcomer to Yarmouth, I have found this site to be informative and helpful as I attempt to learn more about our schools, our programs, and our community, and I encourage you to spend some time browsing through the many links provided here.

Having joined this talented and dedicated team of educators on July 1, I have already met many individuals who have expressed to me their passion for working with the students of Yarmouth. I have been impressed by the consistent use of words and phrases such as “collaborative”, “respectful”, “focused”, and “high standards” that have been used during the conversations I have had with administrators, teachers, board members, parents, and other staff members. It is clear that Yarmouth is a wonderful place in which to live, work, play, and be educated, and I am pleased to join the team.

While students and many staff members are spending the summer elsewhere, the administrative staff and several support personnel are busy preparing the schools for the start of the 2014-2015 school year. It is our intent to hit the ground running for another highly successful year, helping each student reach his or her potential in the classroom, on the stage, on the fields of play, and in the community. Our mission, “Empowering All Students to Create Fulfilling Lives in a Changing World”, is a challenging task, and one we approach with an appropriate blend of demand, support, compassion, and fun.

As we attempt to meet the needs of each student, we realize that our mission cannot be fully accomplished without the support of our students’ families and the larger community. Working together, we can provide the experiences and opportunities that will assist each student to demonstrate growth. I look forward to working with each of you to continue the tradition of excellence that has become synonymous with the Yarmouth School Department.
