From its birth in 1993, St. Benedict Parish has grown from infancy to adolescence and now to full maturity as a new parish. The dedication Mass of St. Benedict Church was held on June 26, 1997 at 7:00 p.m.  The church is located on 43 acres in the northwest corner of Yankton.  The church includes a large church proper, daily chapel, parish offices, conference center, kitchen and dining room.  The Sacred Heart elementary school was added to the main church and houses Pre-K through 4th grade at the St. Benedict campus.  Grades 5 through 8 remain downtown at the Sacred Heart Parish location.
