To ensure a cohesive and comprehensive professional development program within Yancey County Schools, a systemic framework of organizational structures and processes are utilized. That is, the District Improvement Steering Committee (DISC) and each School Improvement Team (SIT) are collaborative stakeholder groups who determine and embed professional development elements in their respective continuous improvement plans that address tiered goals. The YCS Professional Development Coordinator oversees the district’s professional development procedures as aligned with the YCS Continuous Improvement Plan. In addition, each SIT selects a professional development chairperson. The principal manages and approve professional development requests at respective schools.
