Meet Mrs. Silver

We all have a story to tell.  My story at EYMS started in 1995.  I have worked in several different areas at this wonderful school.  After following my dreams of becoming a teacher, I went back to school at Mars Hill University and graduated in 2007.  This will be my 7th year teaching and I love 8th grade.  The light in my life are my girls, Mackenzie and Cadie.  I was also recently remarried so if your student calls me Ms. Proffitt that is ok too.  Please know this about me; I will treat each student as I would my own.

My Home Away from Home

One of the most amazing opportunities in life is to love the place where you work. I have to say EYMS is the best place to work.  We are a family who sticks together and love working together.
I was honored to be named EYMS teacher of the year for 2014-2015.

In my spare time I love to read, of course, and I love to travel with my girls.  We have taken some amazing trips.  I love the great outdoors, riding bikes, hiking and just sitting in the woods.  The kids will tell you that my favorite food is CHOCOLATE!!!  The great pleasure I get in life is working with my students.  I try to bring the stories we are reading to life so they can experience them.  I want them to connect to literature.  Reading can take you places you may never get to see

I had the GREAT opportunity to travel to Singapore to visit their school system.  Here are a couple of students I got to meet at Woodlands Ring Secondary School.  I will be sharing a lot about my trip to the students.
