Goals: 
-To provide meaningful professional development for all certified staff
-To encourage career growth for certified staff, giving them the option of being leaders in their schools
-To personalize professional learning for all certified staff
-To promote Yadkin County Schools' instructional initiatives 

Preschool Teachers - Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (SEFEL) 

Elementary Teachers - Differentiating Instruction for All Learners - Differentiation Design Collaborative (DDC)

Middle/High School Teachers - Integrating Technology Instruction - Technology Design Collaborative (TDC)

Elementary/Middle/High School Teachers - Analysis of Student Work (ASW) 

All certified staff will choose at least one of the Yadkin County Schools' initiatives as one goal for their Professional Development Plan (PDP).  

Middle/High School teachers should choose Integrating Technology Instruction as one target goal for their PDP.  They may choose another of their choice if they wish to target two areas of professional development.  Middle and High Schools will target the Integrating Technology Instruction for professional development on the early release days due to the 1:1 initiative at YCS middle and high schools. Teachers will remain at their in respective schools for early release day professional learning.  Teachers selected for the Technology Design Collaborative will provide their staff's professional development. 

Elementary Schools should choose Differentiating Instruction for All Learners as one target for their PDP.  They may choose another of their choice if they wish to target two areas of professional development.  Elementary Schools will target Differentiating instruction for All Learners for professional development on the early release days due to the differentiation initiative.  Teachers will remain in their respective schools for early release day professional learning. Teachers selected for the Differentiation Design Collaborative will provide their staff's professional development.

Technology Day will be held September 26, 2016.



Regarding Literacy Credit:  For teachers whose licenses expire on or after June 30, 2017, renewal credit for literacy requires a specific focus on reading strategies. The following NCDPI on-line courses meet those requirements and thus carry literacy credits:
  • Helping Struggling Readers: Action Research from the GTN Project
  • Supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) in the Classroom: Action Research from the GTN Project
  • The Reading and Writing Connection: Action Research from the GTN Project
  • Preparation for Foundation of Reading Licensure Exam
