The English Language Learner Program in Yadkin County Schools is a language assistance program that provides the framework for English language learners to equal access to the school curriculum. This program is available to any school-aged minority student enrolled in Yadkin County identified as limited English proficient. ELL services are provided to meet both state and federal guidelines and to maximize each student's potential for success.
The purpose of Yadkin County Schools' ELL program is to meet the special needs of students whose home-language is other than English in a nurturing, accepting environment which focuses on transition to mainstream academic classes and bridges the language and cultural barriers between the home and school.
The goal of Yadkin County Schools' ELL Program is to promote the development of academic language skills and English language skills simultaneously in order to provide language minority students with the instruction necessary to allow them to progress through school at a rate commensurate with their peers who are native English-speaking, maximizing use of all available resources.
