Skupinová výstava You Make Me Feel vytvořená pro Galerii XY putuje v termínu 5. dubna – 29. června 2025 do londýnské Southwark Park Galleries, která se již od roku 1984 zabývá současným a experimentálním uměním.

You Make Me Feel v Galerii XY při této příležitosti prodlužujeme až do 15. února.

Výstava se skrze práci s pohyblivým obrazem umělkyň Jeanie Crystal, Zein Majali a Emily Pope zaobírá tématem deníků a vyprávění o vlastní osobě. You Make Me Feel je dávkou pocitů, změtí reakcí a vzkazem pro své budoucí já… Zatímco Jeanie Crystal zde uvede nový videoklip kapely Jeanie and The White Boys, Zein Majali představí svá krátká videa, která byla zčásti vygenerována umělou inteligencí. Prostřednictvím nich nás Majali donutí zamyslet se nad naší posedlostí sociálními médii a toxickým vlivem jimi šířených dezinformací. Na závěr nás osloví dílo Emily Pope, které kromě života umělce ve Spojeném království zaznamenává také osobní úvahy o iluzi a klamu dnešní politiky s apelem na důležitost rodiny, kterou si člověk sám vybere.

Výstava probíhá v rámci festivalu PAF Olomouc 2024 (www.pifpaf.cz).

A—Z (Anne Duffau) je producentka v oblasti umění, výzkumnice a zakladatelka exploratorní/nomádské kurátorské platformy A—Z.. Cílem A—Z je otevření se publiku prostřednictvím sdílení rozličných diskurzivních postupů, které se snaží zbourat zažité představy.  Představy o rase, o genderových identitách a o takzvané historii – z hlediska mocenských vztahů. Od roku 2017 spolupracuje s PAF Olomouc, kde připravuje programy projekcí, výstav a performancí. Spolupodílela se na financování a programování kolektivů Transmissions.tv a Décalé. Působí jako lektorka na Royal College of Art v programu Contemporary Art Practice a pracuje jako nezávislá producentka a výzkumnice pro Somerset House Studios. V rámci několika projektů a spoluprací (MAENADS, Polisonics, The New Adolescents) produkuje živou hudbu pod pseudonymem Alpha . Jejím posledním projektem byla kontinuální série Always Coming Home, kterou připravila v prostoru Matt's Gallery.

Jeanie Crystal je umělkyně, performerka, hudebnice a DJka. Spoluzaložila Faboo TV a klub Harpies, je členkou hudební skupiny Jeanie and The White Boys.

Zein Majali je umělkyně jordánsko-palestinského původu se sídlem v Londýně. Jako bývalá inženýrka a datová analytička se obrátila k umění ve snaze archivovat a zkoumat čím dál častější kulturní obraty v arabském světě. Kromě postkolonialismu a globalizace v kontextu Středního východu se zaměřuje především na internet a jeho geopolitické i komunitní dopady. Její práce zahrnuje pohyblivý obraz, zvuk, performanci, AI a sochařství.

Emily Pope je multidisciplinární umělkyně a spisovatelka, která žije i profesně působí v Londýně. Zaměřuje se na seriálovou tvorbu a od roku 2016 natáčí The Sitcom Show, neúspěšnou situační komedii, jež zachycuje život ve Spojeném království v době úsporných opatření. Ve svém výzkumu se zabývá dějinami experimentálního vysílání, humorem a satirou, intersekcionálním feminismem, lesbickými subjektivitami, politickou rétorikou a třídní politikou.
Její vlastní i společná tvorba byla prezentována na těchto platformách: Ginny on Frederick, Sundy (Londýn), Wysing Arts Centre, The Box Museum (Plymouth), V.O Curations (Londýn), Peak Gallery (Londýn), Paradise Works (Manchester), The White Pube. Její texty byly publikovány zde: Elephant Magazine, Sticky Fingers Publishing, Lesley Magazine, Low Theory, The Freud Museum, Book Works, Arcadia Missa, Montez Press, Auto Italia.

Pope je také laureátkou Ceny LOEWE FOUNDATION / Studio Voltaire za období 2023–2025.

You Make Me Feel will be shown 5 April  – 29 June 2025  in Southwark Park Galleries, London UK.

For this special PAF 2024 edition, the PAF team invited A—Z to curate XY Gallery Presenting three artists: Jeanie Crystal, Zein Majali and Emily Pope and, focusing on their moving image pieces, this exhibition relates to the theme of diaries and self narratives. You Make Me Feel is a chunk of emotions, a bundle of effects, a note to your future self… Jeanie Crystal will present a new music video piece with her band Jeanie and The White Boys, while Zein Majali’s short part AI generated videos will orient our focus towards everyone’s obsession with social media and the toxic nature of its disinformation. Then we will encounter Emily Pope’s work on being an artist in the UK, and her reflections on the illusions and delusions of the political climate and the importance of a chosen family.

The exhibition is a part of PAF Olomouc 2024 (www.pifpaf.cz).

A—Z (Anne Duffau) is a cultural producer, researcher, and founder of A—Z, an exploratory/nomadic curatorial platform. A—Z aims to open up to audiences by sharing discursive practices in order to challenge preconceived ideas about race, gender identities and so-called history in terms of power relationships. She has worked with PAF Olomouc since 2017, programming screenings and exhibitions. She co-funded and programmed the collectives: Transmissions.tv and Décalé. She is a tutor at the Royal College of Art’s Contemporary Art Practice Programme – and works as a freelance producer/researcher for Somerset House Studios. She produces live music under Alpha through several projects and collaborations (MAENADS, Polisonics, The New Adolescents). Her latest project was hosted at Matt's Gallery (May-Sept 2024). and is an ongoing series titled: Always Coming Home.

Jeanie Crystal is an artist, performer, musician and DJ – she co-funded Faboo.TV, Harpies and is part of the band: Jeanie and The White Boys.

Zein Majali is a Jordanian-Palestinian artist based in London. Formerly an engineer and data analyst, she turned to the arts out of an urgency to archive and examine the accelerated cultural shifts in the Arab world. While her work touches on a post-colonial and globalised Middle East, her primary area of interest is the internet and its effects on both geopolitics and community. Her practice includes moving image, sound, performance, AI and sculpture. 

Emily Pope a multidisciplinary artist and writer living and working in London. She is interested in series making, and has been making The Sitcom Show, a failed sitcom recording life under austerity measures in the UK, since 2016. Her research focuses on a history of experimental broadcast media, humour and satire, intersectional feminism, dyke subjectivities, political rhetoric and class politics.

Solo and group presentations include: Ginny on Frederick, Sundy; London, Wysing Arts Centre, The Box Museum; Plymouth, V.O Curations; London, Peak Gallery; London, Paradise Works; Manchester and The White Pube Residency. Her writing has been published by Elephant Magazine, Sticky Fingers Publishing, Lesley Magazine, Low Theory, The Freud Museum, Bookworks, Arcadia Missa, Montez Press and Autoitalia.

Pope was selected as an awardee of the 2023-25 LOEWE FOUNDATION / Studio Voltaire Award.
