Ještě si z dětství pamatuji tu radost, když na dně kapsy najdeš zapomenutou korunu. Dlouho pak chodíš, žmouláš ji mezi prsty, přejíždíš nehtem po její vroubkované hraně a přitom přemýšlíš, za co všechno by se dala směnit. Tehdy byla jiná než dneska. Větší. Ostatně jako všechno viděné dětskou optikou. Byla na ní žena. Podivně plastická a zároveň tak trochu jako stín. Byla jsem přesvědčená o tom, že je to nějaká alegorie, ztělesněná ctnost. Nikdy by mě nenapadlo, že je skutečná a chodí tady někde mezi námi, a ta mince, že je šém v hlavě nemotorného uroboru, který jednou padne jako Golem, dojde mu pára a vyhasne.
Artur Magrot ve výstavním projektu OBĚ-ŽIVO připraveném pro olomouckou Galerii XY aktualizuje příběh odehrávající se na pozadí vzniku československé koruny.
Artur Magrot (1985) v letech 2014 až 2020 studoval na pražské AVU v ateliéru Intermediální tvorba II pod vedením Jiřího Příhody, později Pavly Scerankové a Dušana Zahoranského. V průběhu studia absolvoval stáž v ateliéru Nových médií Anny Daučíkové na AVU (2019) a zahraniční studijní pobyty na HFBK Dresden (2018) a UDK Berlin (2019). Studium na Akademii ukončil v roce 2020 diplomovou prací Global Illumination. Tato videoinstalace byla zařazena do mezinárodní soutěže Startpoint Prize a oceněna na festivalu dokumentárních filmů v Jihlavě. V minulých letech svou práci představil na samostatných výstavách THE KEY’S IN THE MAILBOX (GAMU, Praha 2023), Stupeň volnosti (Galerie Jelení, Praha, 2020) nebo Nebude to trvat dlouho (Start up, GHMP, 2016) aj. Je autorem dočasných i stálých realizací ve veřejném prostoru. V současnosti je studentem doktorského studia na AVU, kde také pracuje na 3D pracovišti. Je členem tvůrčího kolektivu FRAG a spoluzakladatelem projektu Ukradená galerie.
Tato práce vznikla na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze v rámci projektu „OBĚ-ŽIVO“ podpořeného z prostředků účelové podpory na specifický vysokoškolský výzkum, kterou poskytlo MŠMT v roce 2023.

I still remember the overflowing joy I felt when I found a forgotten coin at the bottom of my pocket. I would then walk around for hours fidgeting with the coin, nails following the notches on its rim, thinking about all the goods I could exchange it for. Coins looked so different back then – bigger – well, as with everything perceived by the child's mind. The relief of a woman on the coin was strangely plastic yet shadowy at the same time. I was convinced that it was some sort of allegory, an embodied virtue of some sort. I would have never thought that the woman was real and walked amongst us, and that the coin was some sort of shem in the head of a clumsy ouroboros, that would one day fall just like the golem that ran out of steam.
Artur Margot is ready to bring an updated version of the story surrounding the origins of the Czechoslovak crown with her exhibition project OBĚ-ŽIVO/ COIN-AGE that was prepared for the Olomouc XY Gallery in Olomouc.
Artur Magrot (*1985, Cheb) studied from 2014 to 2020 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Intermedia Production II and under the guidance of Jiří Příhoda, Pavla Sceranková, and Dušan Zahoranský. During his studies, he completed an internship with Anna Daučíková’s New Media Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts (2019) and foreign study stays at HFBK Dresden (2018) and UDK Berlin (2019). He completed his studies at the Academy in 2020 with his diploma thesis Global Illumination. This video installation was entered into the international Startpoint Prize competition and awarded at the Jihlava Documentary Film Festival. In the past years, he has presented his work in the solo exhibitions Degree of Freedom (Galerie Jelení, Prague, 2020), Canis lupus (Galerie Alternativa, OGV Jihlava, 2020) and It Won‘t Last Long (Start Up, GHMP, 2016), among others. He is the author of temporary (Procesual installation for Malostranské náměstí, Prague, 2017, with M. Chlanda and J. Rajnoch) and permanent pieces (light sculpture for LaFabrika cultural centre) in public spaces. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the Prague Academy, where he also works in the 3D department. He is a member of the creative collective FRAG and co-founder of Stolen Gallery.
