Dear all,

I would like to inform you all that after 3 years of hard work we finally managed to officially get the land which will be used as our Headquarters. Today at around 12.00pm I signed the contract that states that the Xaghra Scout Group is to use the land in front of the Xaghra playing field for the coming years.

I would like to show my personal appreciation and gratefulness on behalf of the group to all the persons involved who worked hard for this great achievement. These persons are mainly Vince Vella, Fr Jesmond Gauci and Carmel Attard along with others.

I take this opportunity to ask for help. With new achievements come new responsibilities. As a group we are now responsible of carrying out the needed work on the place and use it to the best benefit of the whole group. For this all help is needed. Thus if you can help in: professional, manual, financial, fund raising/applying for funds and other ways kindly contact me by e-mail ( or on phone (79333398). All your help, work, energy and enthusiasm will be greatly appreciated.

Help us create a Home for Xaghra Scout Group, a safe environment for your children and an other asset for the Gozitan Island.

Looking forward to hear from you.

On Friday evening, the troop together with their leaders left the HQ at about 20:30 and walked for about 8km to San Blas arriving there a few minutes after 11pm. The troop had a new experience because they slept in a cave instead of the usual tents. Upon arrival at this cave, it started raining cats and dogs and thunderstorms soon followed. It was the first time that the troop and their leaders came upon this extreme weather while hiking. At sunrise, the troop left the cave and headed to Imgarr, where they arrived at around 13:00. All the scouts were extremely tired when their parents picked them up after the hike but also very happy that they managed to finish a 15 km hike.

Each scout came up with an interesting result and the towers that were created there really good. Everyone had the great fun building these towers. Also during today’s meeting the troop welcomed Christian Vella as the new Scout Leader.
