Advisory Councils

Wyoming Department of Family Services works with three advisory councils. Most council members are appointed by the Governor while some are legislators appointed by their respective House or Senate leadership.

Department of Family Services Advisory Council

The DFS Advisory Council operates in conjunction with the Department of Family Services (Wyoming Statute 9-2-2106). Its mission is to provide program support, guidance, advocacy, feedback and act as a liaison to the department, functions which are guided by the department's own mission statement. Most members are appointed by the Governor to serve three-year terms. The Senate President and Speaker of the House each appoint one member from the legislative body.
DFS Advisory Council Roster

State Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice
The State Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice is the statewide resource for the Governor, Legislature and communities in the fields of juvenile justice, youth services and delinquency prevention. The Council supports and facilitates the allocation and use of Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) or other sate/federal monies to help communities provide services and programs to reduce juvenile delinquency.

Early Childhood Development Council

Created to facilitate a comprehensive statewide early childhood development strategic plan, promote parent and family education and join in coordinated health, child care and education services to help families maintain developmental opportunities for children.
Governor's Early Childhood Development Council

Wyoming Children's Trust Fund Board

This board promotes prevention and education programs to reduce the occurrence and reoccurrence of child abuseand neglect and the need for state intervention in child abuse and neglect cases (W.S. 14-8-101 through W.S. 14-8-108). The Board operates in conjunction with the Department of Family Services.
