About Our Team

Prodigy Team History

When Crossett Brook Middle School was first started, at the beginning of the 1997-98 school year, the inaugural Prodigy Team was born. That first year, Prodigy was made up of 46 7th graders and two teachers--Wendy Moore teaching Science and Math, and Lori Morse teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. In year two of CBMS, the original Prodigy Team joined with the former Humdingers Team to create the four-teacher Prodigy Team as we know it today. Over the years, many teachers and students have called the Prodigy Team their home. Their various personalities, skills, and talents have helped to give each year's team a unique identity, but some things about being a Prodigian remain constant.

Team Name

Students who were on the team the first year were the ones who gave us our name Prodigy. According to Merriam-Webster's School Dictionary, prodigy means:

1. something extraordinary or unexplainable;

2. an amazing instance, deed, or performance; or

3. a highly talented child.

We feel that the members of the Prodigy Team fit all of those definitions!

TEAM VISION

The Prodigy Team is a very special place. We are committed to a core set of values. We call these our seven COMMITMENTS. They are:

Character

Leadership

Perseverance

Respect

Responsibility

Risk & Challenge

Unity

These seven values guide all that we do on our team. We will announce these at the beginning of the year and define them through consistent actions. We will recognize students who have personified these commitments through behavior in and out of the classroom.
