Who I Am

Gary McDaniel, MSW, LICSW is a Clinical Social Worker who works in partnership with County and School Administration, Faculty, Parents, Community Partners, and most importantly students to help create an environment where all are equal and all can learn. The Social Work services Gary provides are:

  • The development and implementation of prevention programming:
    •  Bullying Prevention
    •  Suicide Prevention
    • Flexible Learning Environments (FLEX)
  • The development and implementation of parenting programs:
    • Parent Child Academy
    • Home Visiting Program
  • Mental Wellness Programming:
    • Assessment and Referral
    • Coordination of care with local providers
    • Group Work
    • The Sardine Club
  • Direct Services:
    • Conflict resolution for students, schools and families
    • Problem-solving skills for students, schools and families
    • Brief, solution-focused psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and families
  • Staff Development:
    • Certified Senior CPI instructor
    • Certified Time to Teach instructor
    • Other mental health related topics as needed, including:
      • Stress Management
      • Effective Discipline
      • Connecting with students
      • Mental Health Matters
      • Dealing with disruptive students
Gary McDaniel also teaches Graduate Social Work courses as Adjunct Faculty for West Virginia University’s Division of Social Work. He was awarded the NASW West Virginia Social Worker of the Year award for 2010, Pinwheels of Prevention for work with families in Morgan County by the state prevention partnership in 2010. Gary also was a Morgan County Partnership Partner of the Month in 2011. He was inducted into the USA Martial Artists Association Hall of Fame in 2011 for his work with violence prevention.
