Welcome to Preschool

Welcome to preschool in the Yellow Room!  

The classroom will be staffed by myself as the lead teacher and several teaching assistants.  I have a master’s degree in early childhood special education and have been teaching here at the ECC for over 30 years after working for five years in an early intervention program.  I am pleased to be assisted by Nancy Alzamora and Brenda Ducasse.  There may also be speech, occupational, or physical therapy staff; the school counselor, and/or specialized consultants present within the classroom as we all work to meet the individual needs of all children in our classroom.   The speech therapist for the Yellow Room is Courtney Haley.  Our OT is Brianna McGovern, our PT is Sally Loverin, and the school psychologist/ team chair is Lisa Hunt.

Important Information:

1.  We are a nut free classroom. 

2. Arrival:  Drop off time in the morning is 9:00 am. At drop off,  on fair weather days students should be brought to the playground and on poor weather days to the door directly opposite the playground walk way.  The classrooms rotate through the three playgrounds so look for the playground flying the yellow flag.  We appreciate your prompt arrival so we can get started on our day.

3. Dismissal: Half day students will be dismissed at 11:20 am and full day students at 2:50.  At dismissal, students will be dismissed from the same door as drop off unless they end their day in an inclusion classroom in which case their inclusion teacher will dismiss them from the doorway closest to their classroom.  

4. It is helpful, especially when it is warm, for your child to bring a water bottle that he/ she keeps on an outside pocket of his/her backpack.  AM students will need a nut free snack and full day students will need a nut free snack and lunch.   Please label your child's lunchbox and water bottle.  

5.  We invite you to stay in touch with us via email or a backpack note.
