Kim has a plethora of experience in special education and early childhood including, but not limited to, parent of children with disabilities, professor/researcher, and administrator. Kim earned her Ed.D in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University, CAGS in Early Childhood Special Education from Johns Hopkins, M.Ed in Elementary Education from Salem State University, and  B.A. in Elementary Education from Saint Michael’s College. Her dissertation examined the impact of teacher preparedness (e.g., license, education, experience, and professional development), instructional practices (e.g., beliefs, curriculum, instruction, and assessment), and the availability of reading remediation (e.g., RTI, intervention, groupings) on AYP in reading. 

Kim began her career as a kindergarten teacher before going on sabbatical to raise her own four children, three who have disabilities.  Kim rejoined the field of education as an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Southern New Hampshire University but diverted to public school administration shortly thereafter, serving as an Education Specialist at DESE followed by Director of Special Education at Lowell Community Charter Public School, Lawrence Public Schools, Granby Public School District and currently in the Wachusett Regional School District. 

Most recently, she brought Special Olympic Winter Games to the Wachusett Regional School District, created an Assistive Technology Team, and implemented the TEACCH model in classrooms serving students with global developmental disabilities
