About The Teacher

The 2025-2026 school year is my 20th year of teaching! I have taught at the third, fourth, and fifth grade levels in Sterling and I am looking forward to our adventures together in fourth this year! 

Before teaching elementary school, I worked really hard as a student and graduated in the top ten of my class from Assumption College with a BA in English, a minor in Psychology, and a concentration in Elementary Education. In 2011, I completed my Masters in Reading at Worcester State College earning a graduate medallion and obtained my certification as a MA Reading Specialist. In 2014, I completed my studies on teaching English Language Learners and now have an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement on my teaching license. I continued my studies in 2024 with graduate level courses in graphic novels and the legacy of racial injustice. 

I continue to enjoy a very special learning adventure: Being a mom! My son turned 10 this summer and my daughter is 8 years old. I know that I will continue to learn a great deal through this experience as a parent as well. 

I have wanted to teach for as long as I can remember and I am very excited and grateful to be a part of the Houghton Elementary School community. I have high expectations that I believe all students can rise to and achieve with the proper support from our home and school connection. I am looking forward to working towards success with you and your family.

The mission for Houghton Elementary is as follows:

It is a child-centered school. Our commitment is to provide challenging and creative learning experiences that enable children to build both a strong academic and social foundation. Our school offers a safe, supportive environment where children care to learn and learn to care. 

My mission for this class is to provide students with all of the information, skills, and tools they will need to become life-long learners, responsible and kind contributing citizens, and to achieve at their greatest potential. I strive to emphasize our Houghton school values in every assignment and activity that we complete together daily: Honesty, Responsibility, Cooperation, Kindness, and Respect.
