|Dolbeare on the Move, September 26, 2016|
Dear Dolbeare Families,
We appreciated welcoming so many parents to our Back to School night last week. We hope you left with an increased understanding regarding the learning opportunities planned for your children. We are fortunate to partner with such a supportive group of parents! Communication is one of the important ingredients to ensure a successful school year for each child. Please continue to reach out to us to share any questions or concerns throughout the year.
Looking ahead to this week, children will benefit from a stimulating science exploratory event. On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, PTO member Kate Pritchard will lead our first SPARKS Museum. Each grade level will visit the “museum” for a one hour science exploration. The gym will be transformed into a hands-on wonder where children visit various booths to engage in standard based learning activities. Science concepts and probes elicit comparing, contrasting, measuring and questioning. Be sure to ask your children about this special event.
Remember that Wednesday, September 28th is an early dismissal day. Children are dismissed at 11:55am after lunch is served. Please mark your calendars. Educators will participate in district training regarding meeting the special needs of children such as English Language Learners.
With the onset of fall, we observe changes all around us. None are greater than the growth that occurs as wide-eyed children enthusiastically explore their world. Ask your children about their curiosities as they observe the changes showcased by a new season.

Sparks! Science Museum!
We are gearing up for our Sparks! event this fall and are seeking parent volunteers. Sparks! is our parent-led science initiative, aimed at supplementing our students scientific experience with exciting hands-on activities. This Sparks! program will have a new format - The Sparks! Science Museum! We'll be transforming the gym into a scientific exploration zone full of stations designed to inspire investigation, stoke curiosity and encourage active scientific inquiry. We will need many volunteers to run the stations. No science background needed. Everything will be provided for you! The students will travel with their grade for 30 minutes exploring the exhibits. Feel free to sign up for 1 session or the entire day. We will have at least 10 stations and could easily use more than one parent at each one so sign up and bring a friend! This is guaranteed to be a great opportunity to share in some learning with your child! All volunteers need a CORI on file in the office.
Please contact me with any questions/concerns!
The Dolbeare Holiday Shopping and Craft Fair will take place on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 6 to 9pm at the Dolbeare School. Please click on the link above for more details.
