The Business, Technology, & Culinary Department emphasizes logic, decision-making, ethics, critical thinking, and the effective use of technology. Through a structured and sequential program of studies, students develop both knowledge and experience in the areas of accounting, banking, business, culinary arts, computer science, economics, entrepreneurship, marketing and personal finance. Student collaboration is emphasized, and communication skills are developed extensively. The standards maintained in all courses are those expected of qualified workers by employers or of well-prepared students entering college or technical schools. All courses provide an excellent foundation for those students who wish to major in either Business Administration or Liberal Arts at the college level. Actual experience in banking (The Savings Bank-WHS branch), Culinary (Warrior Cafe) and retail (Warrior Store) provides a reality-based education that positions students for future success in both academics and careers.
The Business Department will assess the following academic competency from Wakefield High School’s 21st Century Learning Expectations:
The student utilizes critical thinking skills to solve problems both individually and collaboratively.
The student identifies, interprets, and evaluates information, develops and uses an action plan to solve a
problem or approach a new situation, correctly creates and expresses a solution or conclusion.
