Colorado Dept of Education Music Standards:

1. Expression of Music

2. Creation of Music

3. Theory of Music

4. Aesthetic Valuation of Music


Grading: Students are graded on demonstration of learning, effort, and performance.


Formative Assessment:  Students will participate in performances throughout the year and complete self reflections and evaluations on their performances.


Expectations: Be kind, respectful, and encouraging.  Come into music with a positive attitude!. Practice the L.E.A.R.N. principles.


Consequences: 

1st time- warning/request

2nd time- redirection

3rd time- time out from activity


Music students at Gateway will have the opportunity to participate in grade level performances.  Students will explore singing, movement & instruments as well as learn to read & understand basic music notation.

Formative Assessment:  3rd-5th graders keep track of “artfulness” in personal Art Paks all year


Expectations: Be Artful, Smartful and Heartful. Practice the L.E.A.R.N. principles.


Consequences:

2nd time- Redirect action towards greatness

3rd time- time out


Every Gateway student will have access to the infinite world of artfulness; we will explore idea production, manipulate materials, solve problems, and develop the practices that nurture the creative process.

Colorado Dept of Education PE Standards:

1. Movement Competence & Understanding in Physical Education

2. Physical and Personal Wellness in Physical Education

3. Emotional and Social Wellness in Physical Education

4. Prevention and Risk Management in Physical Education


Grading:  Proficiency grades will be given each semester for overall demonstration of learning and effort. FitnessGram will be used to assess fitness for 3rd-5th graders.


Dress:  Appropriate clothes and shoes for physical activity.  Water bottles allowed during PE.


Expectations:  PE expectations aligned with each letter in  ‘L.E.A.R.N’.


Consequences:  

1st strike-Warning/request  

2nd strike--time out/refocus  

3rd strike--call parent/guardian


I am so excited to be the new PE teacher at Gateway!  I look forward to getting to know your child/ren as well as teach them how to have a fun, safe, healthy and active lifestyle.
