Welcome from Chief Matthew Fisher

 

Chief Matthew Fisher was hired by the Wooster Police Department on August 2nd 1998.  Prior to working for the department, he earned a B.A. in Business Economics from The College of Wooster and completed The University of Akron Police Academy.
Chief Fisher has been involved in various aspects of the department during his career.  He was a participant in the Wooster Police Honor Guard from 1999 - 2004 and was a K9 handler (with K9 partner, Ringo) from 2000 - 2007.  Chief Fisher has also served as a taser instructor and marijuana tester.

A graduate of the 240th session of the FBI National Academy and has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Tiffin.  He is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (2006) and Leadership Wooster (2007).  Chief Fisher was promoted to Sergeant in 2005  to Lieutenant in 2008, and was promoted to Chief on June 20, 2011.
