Top Speaker and 4th Place at Northwestern Round Robin

Following the Glenbrooks, seniors Rahim Shakoor and Jason Sigalos participated in the Northwestern University Round Robin. A prestigious invitational featuring seven of the nation's best teams, 2011 marked the first time that Woodward has competing in the Thanksgiving-week event. After six debates—against Damien (CA), Greenhill (TX), Homewood-Flossmoor (IL), Iowa City West (IA), Whitney Young (IL), and Glenbrook South (IL)—Woodward finished with five out of a possible 12 ballots, good for fourth place (behind Greenhill, Whitney Young, and Homewood-Flossmoor).In addition to the team honor, Jason earned the Top Speaker Award, besting 13 of the most talented debaters in the country. At the conclusion of the first semester, he has already accumulated an impressive resume of speaker awards: first at St. Mark's and the Northwestern Round Robin, second at Meadows and Glenbrooks, third at the Greenhill Round Robin, and eleventh at Greenhill.
