Traveling a bit further afield, the Woodward debaters headed to Carrollton, GA, for two days of debates at Richard Bracknell’s Peach State Classic.
Six Woodward first years made their debut in the Junior Varsity division. Ali Abdullah ’17 was the 4th speaker, Crawford Kennedy ’17 was 5th, and Max Abramson ’17 was 10th. A special shout out also goes to Crawford Kennedy, who achieved a winning record debating in Junior Varsity as a maverick!
Not to be outdone, two Woodward novice teams reached the elimination rounds. Connor Baldwin ’17 and Alex Dulisse ’17 were semifinalists and Ethan Cheng ’17 and Tripp Haskins ’17 were quarterfinalists. Novice speaker awards were earned by Dulisse (6th) and Baldwin (10th).
Finally, in the varsity division, Liliana Burgess ‘16 and Sahil Patel ‘15 reached the elimination rounds, losing in the quarterfinals on a 2-1 decision. Burgess was the 5th speaker, Patel was the 11th.
