Second Place at the Meadows Invitational

Viva Las Vegas! Eight Woodward debaters flew west to the Meadows Invitational. Happy to be reunited after illness sidelined the partnership at St. Mark's, "Woodward AH"—seniors Max Abramson and Tripp Haskins—continued their success by achieving a 6-0 preliminary record and taking second place overall. They bested teams from Green Valley (NV), Kent Denver (CO), Gulliver Prep (FL), Notre Dame (CA) and South Eugene (OR) in the preliminary rounds, as well as West (UT), Highland Park (TX) and Greenhill (TX) in the elims. They were defeated by the same South Eugene team in their rematch in the final round. Tripp was the tournament's second speaker and Max was fifth.

Senior Ali Abdullah and junior Arjun Srinivasan also earned awards — they reached the quarterfinals before losing a close debate to Greenhill (TX). Arjun was the 7th speaker and Ali was 18th. Sophomores Mona Mahadevan and Malachi Robinson continue to impress — they were 3-3 at their first national tournament in varsity.
