Welcome to Ms. Franklin's Math Class (4th-7th Grades)

Introduction:  Hello, I'm Allison (Allie) Franklin.  I have 3 daughters, Sarah (16yrs), Ansynn (12yrs) and Logann (8yrs).  They are my most favorite humans in the world.  I earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with a focus on Interdisciplinary Studies from Midwestern State University in 2010.  I've been teaching Math since then.  I live in Graham and am so excited to be a part of the Woodson community and your wonderful school district!  Math is my passion.  I don't expect everyone to love math, however, I do expect everyone to give their best efforts in everything they do.  No preconceived "I hate Math/I'm bad at Math" notions allowed.  I do things a little differently than traditional grill and drill math teachers.  I teach conceptual math, based on strong fundamentals and foundations.  I tell the students "there's a lot of ways to Wal-Mart, so just get there..."  This means there are many different ways to work a single math problem.  I implore and encourage my students to investigate different strategies and find one that works for them.  There is NO "right way" to solve a single problem; just get the right solution/answer, regardless of the process.

"You don't truly understand anything until you learn it in more than one way."  ~Marvin Minsky

Thank you for sharing your most precious children with me!!!
