Welcome to Elementary Computer Class

Keyboarding

With the advent of standardized tests being completed exclusively online, keyboarding skills are becoming more important than ever.  Students in first through fifth grades complete a keyboarding unit at the beginning of the school year in computer class and also continue to do three, one minute timed tests at the beginning of every computer class throughout the rest of the school year.  However, that and my continued hounding to use all fingers to type in class is not enough to promote good keyboarding skills.  Therefore I need parents help to encourage students to use two hands, and all their fingers whenever they are keyboarding.  I will reward students with a piece of candy for each day a student spends 10 minutes keyboarding using all their fingers at home.  All I need from parents is a note, or an email, telling me how many days their child has practiced keyboarding or you can fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Rewards will be handed out during a child's next computer class.  For free keyboarding programs, click the Keyboading Links at the bottom of this page or on sidebar located on left hand side this page.
