Pattern Block Fractions
As the academic support teacher for literacy, Tina has the opportunity to work one-to-one or in small groups. She works with students in daily small group lessons in the Fountas and Pinnell Literacy Intervention Program. This research-based program includes phonics/word work, practicing rereading high interest books, comprehension skills, writing about reading, and ongoing assessment.
As the academic support teacher for math, Nancy gets to visit most classrooms and support teachers and children in the area of math. Sometimes, it looks like a math activity during Morning Meeting. At other times, she co-teaches with the classroom teacher. There are times when she will work one-to-one with a student or work in small groups with three to four students using research based interventions. All of these efforts are to identify gaps in math learning and to rebuild foundations to support math learning in the classroom.
