World Languages Program Overview

All students must complete two full-year courses in World Language as a requirement for graduation. The World Language program provides opportunities and resources for all students to gain proficiency, as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), in Spanish, French, Chinese or Latin. Instruction focuses on communication for authentic purposes in the four areas of language development: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Classes within the World language Department are conducted almost entirely in the target language.

NOTE:  The scheduling of Honors level language classes in the third, fourth, and fifth year of the program will be dependent upon sufficient enrollment.
