Description:  This program is designed to challenge the motivated student of exceptional ability. Studying a wide selection of world literature and informational texts from diverse time periods and cultures, students explore the abstract ideas and concepts illustrated. They are asked to think critically and work independently. Coherence, intelligent analysis, perception of nuances, standard language usage, logical thought and critical thinking skills are developed through essays, commentary papers, oral presentations, research, and in-depth class participation. Writing types such as those found on IB and AP tests will be further practiced with an emphasis on close reading, annotation and independent analysis.
