May 2017

Aloha from Waimea Middle School -

As many know, our WMS Principal Amy Kendziorski will be saying “Aloha” and “A Hui Hou!” come the end of this school year.  We thank her for five years of dedication to our children and school-community and wish her the very best!

We have initiated a nationwide leadership search.  Ho’okako’o Corporation, our local school board, is working closely with our faculty-staff and Local Advisory Panel (LAP) to coordinate recruitment.  We are excited about this collaboration.  An Interview Committee was established including three certificated teachers, a classified staff member, a LAP representative, one Ho’okako’o Board member and two HC staff.  They are now recommending three candidates out of 27 applicants to meet all of us — and for us to meet them.

You are invited to join other WMS families, community partners and LAP members from 1:30-5 p.m., Wed., May 9, to meet the candidates, learn about their academic expertise and passion, and why they want to join our public conversion charter school ‘ohana.  Please come to the new Keaoākea STEAM Learning Center - Classroom 201 (2nd floor).

We appreciate your involvement and support of our students and families in the past - and hope this continues and GROWS as we move forward.

Please feel free to share this with others that you think would be interested.  We are the public middle school of Waimea.  Truly successful schools enjoy strong family-community involvement and support.  Our children need and deserve this!  Mahalo!

PS:  Please do not drive on the school field when parking.  Best to park on the south (Mala'ai Garden) side of the entry drive or parallel park along the north side of the entry drive.  Also, the STEAM Learning Center can become chilly in the afternoon - you might want to bring a jacket.
