Mahalo!

The view of Waimea and Mauna Kea from atop Hoku'ula -- can you find Waimea Middle School?

Our Hero Wall

Don't miss this when you visit -- nearly 500 hand-painted tiles, created by students over the years, to honor those who teach us, mentor us, inspire us and share their wisdom and deep love for this special place -- Waimea!

Supporting Our School

Waimea Middle School is a public conversion charter school -- the first to convert under what was a new law passed by the Legislature in 2002 to support improved student learning and achievement, especially in communities with a high Title 1 student population (an indicator of poverty) and a large percentage of children of Hawaiian ancestry.  Approx. 70% of our students are Title 1 and about 50% are Hawaiian/Part Hawaiian.

Our school received full 6-year Accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for 2014-2020.  This is a "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" that mandates a schoolwide commitment to pursuing continuous improvement.  For more about our Accreditation focus, please click here.

One of our Accreditation priorities is collaboratively developing a Sustainable Budget and Fundraising Plan to sustain the school's academic program.  We welcome community support of all kinds -- both direct financial assistance and in-kind services and supplies and are deeply grateful to our many diverse community partners!

Our Local School Board -- Ho'okako'o Corp. -- provides a 501(c)3 non-profit umbrella for the school and we work closely with them to provide donors desired tax benefits for their contributions.

Every little bit helps!  We are "the" public middle school of our community serving all children and we firmly believe in and pursue academic progress for all of our students as expressed in our mission:

"Waimea Middle School empowers all students with the skills, values, and cultural understanding to successfully navigate high school and beyond.”

We welcome your calls, questions and suggestions.
