Upcoming events associated with Aircraft Observations and AMDAR
A joint meeting of the WMO Commission for Basic Systems, Expert Team on Aircraft-Based Observing Systems (ET-ABO) and the Commission for Instruments and Methods of Observations, Expert Team on Aircraft-based Observations (ET-AO) will take place over 7-11 December, 2015 in Casablanca, Morocco, at the kind invitation of the Direction de la Météorologie Nationale, Morocco.
The Joint Meeting will bring together the two WMO expert teams on aircraft-based observations, which jointly have responsibility for the programmatic development and operation of the WMO AMDAR programme.
The meeting will be preceded by a WMO Regional Workshop on AMDAR over 3-4 December 2015, at the Palace d’Anfa Hotel, Casablanca. This event will bring together WMO Member experts and airline representatives of the northern Africa region to learn about the AMDAR programme and the requirements and responsibilities for national development and participation in it.

The WMO Commission for Instruments and Methods of Observation (CIMO) Task Team on Aircraft-based Observations (TT-AO) First Session will take place at the WMO Secretariat Headquarters in Geneva Switzerland over 18-20 February 2014.

The 1st Session of the WMO Commission for Basic Systems (CBS) Expert Team on Aircraft-based Observing Systems will take place in Geneva, Switzerland over 10-13 September 2013.
This team is one of two WMO Technical Commission teams that have taken over programmatic responsibility for AMDAR and for Aircraft-based Observations from the former WMO AMDAR Panel.

Official invitations to this meeting will be sent to all members of ET-ABO only, however, as agreed with the former AMDAR Panel, all WMO Focal Points are welcome to request to attend this meeting if they have an interest and are able to be self-supported in doing so. The Fifteenth Session of the WMO AMDAR Panel will take place over the 6th to 9th November 2012 and will be kindly hosted by NOAA and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) at the NCAR Center..
In conjunction with and immediately prior to the AMDAR Panel meeting, on the 5th of November, the AMDAR Panel, in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) will hold a technical workshop on turbulence, with a particular focus on the monitoring and reporting of turbulence from the AMDAR system.

The AMDAR Panel Management Group 4th Session meeting will take place at Geneva, Switzerland from 29 to 31 August 2012.
