About Me

I am so excited for this school year. Last year I had the joy of teaching seventh grade Language Arts in Pacific Madrone 7 and am excited to have looped up to eighth grade with some of you and am looking forward to getting to know those of you I did not teach last year!

I am a proud RRMS and WLHS alum. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Oregon and then continued to earn my M.Ed. from U of O. Teaching has been my dream career since I was 8 years old and love what I do every day. I love teaching Language Arts because I find that we live in a world of themes around humanity and the human experience; I also find that literature is an extraordinary lens through which to explore those themes. Fiction or otherwise, what we do in class teaches us more about the kind of people we are, the kind of people we want to be, and the world we live in.

Outside of teaching, I love to read in my spare time. I enjoy everything from Young Adult fiction to nonfiction philosophy. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Harry Potter and those texts hold a special place in my heart. I also love spending time with my husband David, our sweet dog, Henry, and my awesome friends. I love traveling, sparkles, neon colors, and coffee.

We are going to have an INCREDIBLE year of growth, development, and change together. I am looking forward to every minute. Email is a great way to contact me, for either students or parents. Here's to Eighth Grade!
