Reading Log:
You will write a reading log response after finishing each book that you independently read.  This includes books nominated for the Young Hoosier book Award and Title 30 books and also ANY other book read.  Your reading log will count as the largest percentage of your overall reading grade.

Reading Log pages:


The minimum amount of reading log entries in each category (for a "C" grade):
Picture book entries: 2
Nonfiction entries: 1
Chapter book entries: 1

Required Quarterly Reading from Book Lists

First Quarter Goal:
Read 4 books from the Title 30 list.  If you are planning on reading all 20 nominated books from the Young Hoosier Book Award list, these books will replace Title 30 books.  Write a reading log and pass an RC quiz after reading read book.

Second Quarter Goal: (Officially start Young Hoosier Reading)
Read 4 out of 20 nominated books for the Young Hoosier Book Award (one book will be read aloud).  Write a reading log response and pass an RC quiz after reading each book. 


Third Quarter Goal: 
Read 4 books from the Title 30 list.  If you are planning on reading all 20 nominated books from the Young Hoosier Book Award list, these books will replace Title 30 books.  Write a reading log and pass an RC quiz after reading read book.  If you find a book that you are interested in reading that is not on any of the lists, please see Mrs. Dodds.  It is possible for the book to count as one of your 4 books.

Fourth Quarter Goal:
Read 4 books from the Title 30 list.  If you are planning on reading all 20 nominated books from the Young Hoosier Book Award list, these books will replace Title 30 books.  Write a reading log and pass an RC quiz after reading read book.  If you find a book that you are interested in reading that is not on any of the lists, please see Mrs. Dodds.  It is possible for the book to count as one of your 4 books.
