Instructional Excellence Program started in the fall of 2014 with the generous support of the UW-Madison's Provost Office and College of Letters and Science.

IEP's goal is to provide instructional support and professional development to the instructors in the mathematics department.
  • Teaching assistant training and mentorship program
The new teaching assistants go through a comprehensive training program during their first year of teaching.  They attend teaching workshops and get mentored by an experienced staff or graduate student.  The mentors make classroom visits and provide feedback to the TA.
  • Instructional design support for faculty and staff
We can assist with with course (re)designs such as investigation of emerging teaching technologies, teaching effectively with currently available technologies, coordinator course resources development.
  • Orientation for new faculty, Post-Docs and staff
We provide orientation to the department regarding teaching issues.  The program hosts a brown bag get together, teaching circle, for Post-Docs and any other interested instructor.
