We invite you to our February ComETS Flash Talk Event! Flash talk events are designed to rapidly connect members of the UW support community around innovative ideas and shared challenges. Each event will feature several short presentations followed by breakout conversations for more in-depth discussion on each topic.

Flash Talk Presenters
OpenAuthor: A web-based tool for creating openly licensed texts
Steel Wagstaff from L&S Learning Support Services will present on recent work he’s done to build OpenAuthor, a web-based tool that can be easily used to create free, openly licensed books (electronic and print) with audio, video, and learner interaction. He will also talk about plans to further develop OpenAuthor and make it available to all interested parties on campus.
TopHat for UW-Madison
George Jura from the School of Nursing will present on the TopHat student response system (SRS), which has been used in the School of Nursing undergraduate program for the last two years. he will share a few lessons learned during this time, plus an update on how UW-Madison campus agreement affects the departments that have been using TopHat for a while: what we are very happy about, and a few limitations of the system that one should keep in mind, at least for now.
Leadership, Networking, & Engagement Opportunities
Brandon Bernier is co-leading the UW-IT Connects group, sponsored by the Office of the CIO and Vice Provost of Information Technology in partnership with campus affiliates, addresses areas of professional development by creating events and programing to enable a diverse set of opportunities for the community to engage. He will share more about this umbrella organization and how you can participate in leadership, networking, and engagement opportunities across campus.
