Responsible Conduct of Research

Updated 9/16/19

The UW implemented a training requirement in 2010 prompted by a mandate to NSF from the America Competes Act. All student hourlies, post docs and grad students funded by the National Science Foundation need to take an online training course on responsible conduct of research (RCR), or be removed from payroll. The UW encourages all to take the online training so here at CFL we extended this requirement to all student hourlies, post docs and grad students regardless of funding source.

It will only take about 30 minutes to complete. Here's how to take the training:
  1. Go to the Learn@UW page  (https://learnuw.wisc.edu/) log in with netID to pull up My Course Dashboard.
  2. Click on the Canvas link and Login to Canvas.
  3. Log in with your net ID to view the Dashboard.
  4. Click on the Courses link of the left side of the screen, and then on All Courses.
  5. Click on Browse More Courses and enter Responsible Conduct in the search box.
  6. Click on Join this Course to enroll.
To verify you have completed training, use your NetID and password to login to the Research Certification database (https://my.gradsch.wisc.edu/lookups/citi/trainingStatus.html).
